We’ve got a blog!! But first I gotta tell you something and ha, it may not be the best “first” blog post ever. Jami Davis send us a behind the scenes video last night that was beyond cool. It had footage from our photo shoot we did last month in Austin, TX. Loved it at first sight, loved it at first sound. Yup, it was complete with a song off The Good Ones album.
So excited to share it, I called Joe (10) and Gabe (6) in to watch it with me. Gabe instantly smiled and hummed a bit. He loved it. The last video (which you have yet to see) had Gabe singing the lyrics for days and a constant begging of “can we watch it again? And demanding that I fast forward to the end. Of course, he plays a role in the grand finale! Nothing like seeing yourself on film.
And Joe? Well, he didn’t love it so much. I looked over to see his eyes swell up with tears as he dropped his head and ran upstairs. I fully admit I was a little confused and to be real honest, a little irritated he would act like that when Gabe and I were in full smiles! I walked upstairs, sat next to him with my arm around his shoulder and asked him what made him so sad? He looked at me with his eyes pouring out the tears and said “Mom, you said I could go see The Good Ones in Tx with you.” Man, I had to hold it together cuz I wanted to laugh so hard, he really thinks of The Good Ones as a Band, as something other than just boys clothing. Seriously, it is the sweetest thing ever.
We so hope your son will feel the same. Well, okay not the sadness with eyes of tears but the feeling of being part of The Good Ones.
Matt sums it up best when he talks about why we started a boys clothing line.
Ever been asked that question, a few dozen times in a row? It’s the sound of a world that’s brand-new. That’s inspiring at every turn. That’s yet to be figured out, and yet to be second-guessed. A world that will never let you down.
Why? Well, it’s pretty simple. We wanted to celebrate the boys that that light fireworks in our souls.
So here’s a line for their imagination, for their joy, for giggles and for eyes that twinkle. For creativity and adventure, for catching snakes and carrying frogs in pockets, for carving names on a tree, for chores (and allowance), for homeruns (and strikeouts), for dancing and, yep, for rock & roll.
Here’s also one for a busted lip, for a flipped BMX, and for first scars. (A scar is nature’s version of a tattoo—for stories they’ll never forget.)
Most of all, here’s one for friends forever.
